BCEAO analyzes migrant remittances in a report on Senegal's balance of payments and global external position in 2022.

In a context of a slowdown in the cost of living in the main source countries, BCEAO reports that the surplus in the secondary income account stood at 1,642.0 billion against 1,571.4 billion in 2021, due to the consolidation of migrant remittances (+132.6 billion). The institution indicates that the capital account records capital transfers as well as acquisitions and disposals of non-financial, non-produced assets. “The capital account balance stood at 123.1 billion against 122.3 billion in 2021, a slight improvement of 0.8 billion, in line with the increase in capital transfers to the general government.
