former minister Mansour FAYE.In a statement published on Tuesday, the public relations office of the national police announced that “contrary to what has been reported, on April 25, 2024, at around 1 pm, the Kébémer urban police station received the lady Aïssatou Faye who has Claimed to have been the victim of extortion worth 300,000 CFA francs by traffic police officers on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 around 15:00 in Kébémer. During her hearing, she maintained that, following a routine check, an amount of 21,000,000 CFA francs was discovered by her.”
According to the police, after a summary check on the origin of the funds and her activities, the two police officers told her that she was not allowed to drive with such an amount. The investigations carried out by the head of department identified the two police officers involved in the investigation, who admitted during their questioning that they had received the sum indicated, but free of charge. According to the police public relations office, “in the face of these extremely serious acts, the police authority has taken all the necessary disciplinary measures. The two police officers were immediately relieved and are being arrested in the disciplinary room.”
