Last Thursday, the Ivorian National Assembly adopted a text on the suppression of terrorism and money laundering. But this text contains conditions that are causing controversy within the opposition

The bill, adopted by a majority of 124 deputies, amends the Criminal Code to include additional penalties for certain offences such as money laundering and terrorism. All MPs are unanimous on the importance of these issues. In addition, 72 opposition deputies rejected it, because it includes a paragraph, article 185, which targets a third person who “apologises for crimes (...) or who appeals to the public in order to disapprove of the authority and to encourage solidarity with one or more convicted persons”.
