Dans le but d' accroître la production nationale du riz, la Islamic Development Bank (BID) will grant Cameroon a loan of 1.172 billion CFA francs (about 1.95 million dollars) to Cameroon.

Dans le but d' offrir to producers of good quality seeds and training on good agricultural practices, the memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Development rural development and banking institutions. Financial support from the IDB will be made available to the Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (IRAD). The regions concerned are the Far North, the North-West and the West. Under the terms of the agreement, over a period of three years, IRAD must provide nine tons of adapted varieties of basic rice seeds, complementary technologies and the establishment of peasant field schools in the project execution sites

The Institute will train 12 cooperatives and private companies in the production of certified rice seeds as well as in methods and techniques adapted to rice production technologies.
