With the intention of promoting the emergence of “national champions” in the cocoa export sector and ensuring their competitiveness on the market, the Ivorian government decided to grant a subsidy to cocoa exporters.

The measure taken by the Ivorian government aims, according to its spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly, “to promote the emergence of national champions in the various sectors of the coffee and cocoa economy and to ensure their sustainable competitiveness on the national and international market”. This measure is valid for the next four marketing years, specifically the 2023-2024, 2024-2025, 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 campaigns. According to the spokesperson, for the 2023-2024 campaign, which opened last October, the government granted the cocoa export license to 56 trading companies, including around twenty national exporters and 36 producers' cooperative societies
