Several major agreements were recently signed between Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Botswana concerning the modernization of the Beira-Zimbabwe-Botswana rail networks and the construction of a new deep-water mineral port in Mozambique. These agreements are a step towards the implementation of these projects mentioned a few years ago by the three countries

.

Les 3 pays, Mozambique, Zimbabwe et Botswana envisagent de soumettre une requête de financement à la African Development Bank . These projects aim to eliminate the logistical constraints of Botswana, a landlocked country, for exporting its coal reserves. These infrastructures should also be exploited to transport other categories of freight, which will stimulate regional and intra-African trade. According to the Mozambican Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, “the ADB will conduct a feasibility study. We estimate that it will cost between 3 and 4 million USD. The financing of the work should come from several donors such as the ADB, the governments of these states, the private sector and other financial institutions.”
