The Cameroonian head of state recently ratified a bilateral air transport agreement signed on 14 July 2011 with South Africa.

The agreement recently ratified by Cameroon aims to facilitate trade, and stipulates a mutual right of non-commercial stopovers, of flying over territories without the obligation to land, of landings to load/unload. By signing it, the 2 countries undertake to choose the airline companies operating under the agreement fairly, which will promote fair competition. The Cameroonian authorities have indicated that this is a new opportunity to develop bilateral trade as well as business, as South Africa remained the country's No. 2 African trade partner in 2023.
