The 2025 Finance Law foresees an increase of 10.93% in revenue compared to the previous year to 2648.9 billion FCFA (4.5 billion $) against an increase of 5.18% in expenditure of 5.18% in expenditure to 3229.8 billion FCFA (about 5.5 billion $). According to the forecasts of the Malian government, the budget deficit fell from 682.8 billion FCFA in the amended 2024 Finance Law to around 581 billion FCFA in the new project, i.e. a reduction of 14.92%. This deficit is expected to stand at 3.6% of GDP in 2025 against 3.7% in 2023. According to Alousséni Sanou, Minister of Economy and Finance, “it is still understood that in the medium term, fiscal policy would be part of the dynamic of gradually returning to the UEMOA community convergence criterion of 3% by
2026”.
