Le 28 septembre 2024 s' est tenue la neuvième édition des National Cocoa and Chocolate Days (Jncc2024) at the Abidjan Exhibition Center- Port Bouet. The opportunity allowed the Decent Income Differential (Drd) to come into force

.

The Minister of State, Kobénan Kouassi Adjoumani, Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Productions announced that “the entry into force of the Decent Income Differential (DRD), representing an additional bonus of 400 US dollars or 200 2,000 CFA francs at the all-time price on the ton of cocoa sold, made it possible to pay producers more than 2,400 million dollars, or 1600 billion CFA francs over the three implementation campaigns”. He also called on industrial partners in the cocoa value chain to respect the commitments made to promote the profession of cocoa producer and maintain its attractiveness for future generations

.

He mentioned three pillars essential to the development of the cocoa sector that guarantee the sustainability of this major agricultural crop. The first pillar lies in guaranteeing a decent income to cocoa producers, explaining that it is impossible to talk about the sustainability of the cocoa sector without ensuring a level of income that allows producers to maintain their production tools while improving their environment and living conditions. The second is maintaining a sustainable production environment, through the preservation of forest capital, which is essential to guarantee the future of cocoa production. And the last one concerns the promotion of local processing and domestic consumption. He emphasized the need to add more value to Ivorian cocoa to increase the share of revenue derived from the value chain, which is currently below 6%
