During its 89th ordinary session, the Board of Directors of the ECOWAS Investment and Development Bank (BIDC), approved investments worth a total of 61 million euros and 100 million USD to boost the infrastructure, trade and sustainable development sectors in West Africa.

The Board of Directors of the ECOWAS Investment and Development Bank (BIDC), at its 89th Ordinary Session, approved investments totalling 61 million euros and 100 million US dollars to boost the infrastructure, trade and sustainable development sectors in West Africa.

The session took place on 1 October 2024, at the Bank's headquarters in Lomé, Togo, under the chairmanship of Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, President and Chairman of the Bank's Board of Directors, on 1 October 2024, under the chairmanship of Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank.

Dr. Donkor emphasized that the approved investments are in line with the Bank's mission to promote sustainable development and regional integration for the ECOWAS sub-region while stimulating the growth of economic activity.

For the private sector, a $100 million line of credit has been granted to Access Bank Plc in the Federal Republic of Nigeria to help SMEs expand their operations in the various sectors while for the public sector, three projects totaling 61 million euros have been approved in R Federal Republic of Nigeria to support infrastructure, transport, health, and sustainable development
