The Burkinabe government approved a bill to regulate the microfinance sector last Wednesday at the Council of Ministers.

The Minister in charge of Finance, Dr. Aboubakar NACANABO indicated that this text is part of a uniform UEMOA law that Burkina Faso is preparing to adopt. According to him, the objective of this law is to optimize the management of microfinance services. The strengthening of governance to guarantee the security of savers' deposits and an improved system allowing microfinance institutions to play a more significant role in financing the national economy are among others the main innovations
