A large-scale event for the first time from 17 to 18 January 2025 at the Abidjan Exhibition Center. This is the first edition of the National Cotton and Cashew Producer Days (JNPCA)

.

Based on the theme “sustainably valuing the potential of the cotton and cashew industries for successful producers”, the first edition of the JNPCA aims to celebrate the best players in the cotton and cashew industries, by honoring their contribution to the national economy. This event will receive over 5,000 visitors over the two days. During the activities, producers, processors, exporters and other actors in the value chain will be rewarded with fifteen awards according to the best standards. According to André Kouassi, President of the Commission for the Laureates, these awards concern cooperatives, national and multinational companies involved in these strategic sectors

.

Also, the JNPCA will offer an exhibition space where artisans and professionals will present their products derived from cotton and cashew nuts. Likewise, demonstrations of cotton clothing, processed agri-food products and technological innovations will enrich this event. This event is intended to be a platform for exchanges to strengthen cooperation between stakeholders, align strategies with sustainability and draw international attention to these two sectors

.

In reality, the two cotton and cashew industries play a major role in the socio-economic development of the North, East and Central regions of the country. According to information, with a production of 1.2 million tons of raw cashew nuts in 2023, Côte d'Ivoire has been the world leader and the third largest processor in the world since 2022

.

The managing director of the Coton Anacarde Council, Mamadou Berthe, said: “we said to ourselves that we had to stop and promote these producers who made it possible to achieve significant results in these two sectors. For cashew nuts we started with 450,000 tons before the reform and today we are at 1.2 million tons. It was the producers who allowed this and for us it was important to magnify and recognize them. Also in terms of cotton, despite the difficulties we had today, we are seeing recoveries in these areas and we think that it is necessary to recognize the work that is being done by these brave producer parents
