Plagued by the strength of the US dollar, most base metals retreated on Wednesday, with copper falling from a one-month high.

Le cuivre à trois mois à la Bourse des métaux de Londres (LME) a gliss é by 0.5% à 9,112 dollars per ton to 03:37 GMT. Producer prices in the United States rose less than expected in December, as rising goods costs were partially offset by stable prices for services, which suggests that inflation is still on a downward trend, but does not change the view that the Federal Reserve would not cut rates until second half of the year.

SHFE's most active copper contract was down 0.2% at 75,150 yuan ($10,250.15) per ton at the close of the morning trading session in Asia.

SHFE aluminum fell 1.0% to 20,090 yuan per ton, nickel fell 0.5% to 127,200 yuan, zinc fell 2.5% to 23,575 yuan, zinc fell 2.5% to 23,575 yuan, lead gained 0.2% to 23,575 yuan, lead gained 0.2% to 16,530 yuan per ton, and tin lost 1.3% to 245,300 yuan. LME aluminum remained stable at $2,560 per ton, tin fell 1.1% to $29,445, nickel slid 0.8% to $15,825, lead slipped 0.9% to $1,948.5, and zinc lost 1.4% to $2,822
