On the occasion, he called on the various actors in the two sectors to a synergy of actions for the development of the cotton and cashew sector.
“The cotton and cashew sectors, true pillars of our agricultural economy, can only prosper sustainably with the effective and active contribution of all public actors, private partners, producers and researchers. With these words, the Vice President of the Republic, Mr. Tiémoko Meyliet KONÉ, opened the 1st edition of the National Cotton and Cashew Producer Days (JNPCA
).The Vice President of the Republic said that Côte d'Ivoire is now among the main cotton producers in Africa, while since 2015, it has been the world's 1st largest producer of raw cashew nuts, and the quantities of nuts processed on site have increased almost tenfold.
Tiémoko Meyliet KONÉ emphasized that these performances are the result of a clear and ambitious vision carried out by the President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, for the benefit of farmers, and which has resulted in bold reforms, strategic investments and multiple supports for the agricultural world.
While welcoming achievements such as the transformation of all cotton production, the Vice President of the Republic declined the future prospects for these two sectors. Thus, for cotton, the ambition, in the long term, is to build a genuine Ivorian textile industry, modern and competitive, capable of gaining market shares here and internationally. As for cashew nuts, the objective is to be able to process more than half of production locally by 2030
.Speaking before the Vice President of the Republic, the Director General of the Cotton and Cashew Council, Mr. Mamadou BERTÉ, committed himself to this vision, indicating that the Council will continue its efforts to increase added value in these two sectors, according to the Government's guidelines.
byPar ailleurs, plusieurs acteurs de ces deux filières ont reçu des distinctions portant les noms du Président Alassane OUATTARA, du Vice-Président Tiémoko Meyliet KONÉ et the Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Productions, Mr. Kobenan Kouassi ADJOUMANI
