Industrial production recorded a decline of 0.2% in June compared to the previous month, the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD) said on Thursday. This result stems from the underperformance observed in the food industries, underlined the structure in its note of evolution of the harmonized index of industrial production (IHPI). The document released the same day, however, notes an improvement in production in the mechanical, etractive, chemical and energy production industries. Compared with its level of the same period last year, industrial production increased by 1.4 percent, ANSD said. Furthermore, it reports that the total production during the first half of 2020 improved by 2.3% compared to that of the corresponding period of the previous year. AKS/ASB
