The Action Group Against Money Laundering in Central Africa (Gabac) celebrated last September 28 in Malabo, in Equatorial Guinea its 25 years of existence. The festivities were preceded by a week of intense work, including meetings of the Technical Commission of Gabac from 22 to 26 September, followed by the statutory plenary on 27 September at the National Directorate of the Bank of African States power plant.

The think tank dedicated to the celebration focused on a central theme: “Between normative requirement and operational performance, how to strengthen the effectiveness of the Gabac LBC/FT/FP system? ”. This choice reflects the organization's desire to combine rigor and pragmatism in within the Member States through their respective instruments. The ceremony protocol brought together several high-profile personalities. Exchanges, marked through the rigor and frankness of the experts, have benefited from the participation of two former permanent secretaries of Gabac and former directors national Financial Intelligence Units. These debates resulted in the adoption of several strategic recommendations, including strengthening the commitment of members and the support of the Regional Organization of gas transmission in the fight against money laundering, the improvement of the operational effectiveness of regulation in the Member States, and optimal preparation for the next cycle of mutual evaluations
