"My deep conviction is based on the need to build a strong private sector, able to compete with the companies of the continent," said Victoire Tomegah-Dogbé, at the opening of the discussions.
The purpose of this consultation is to create an alliance between the private sector and the State for the success of the 2020-2025 roadmap.
This programme aims to strengthen inclusion and social harmony and consolidate peace. Inclusion is a major element of the roadmap.
The ambition is also to achieve the creation of wealth and jobs by relying on the strengths of countries and on promising sectors such as agriculture (40% of GDP) which is the heart of industry and logistics.
Finally, Togo wants to develop a technological sector that creates jobs and can contribute to the modernization of the country.
The financing of companies via the regional market is also an avenue examined by the authorities.
During the discussions, the Director General of the Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM), Edoh Kossi Aménouvé, presented to SMIs and SMEs innovative long-term financing mechanisms such as: preference shares, bonds convertible into shares, employee savings, securitisation of receivables, group bond issuance for SMEs.
Representatives of the private sector (employers, AGET, CCIT, Eurocham) welcomed the Prime Minister's commitment.
"We need to create an alliance between the state and the private sector to make our country more attractive," said Ms. Tomegah-Dogbé.
