The price of Brent oil should increase gradually over the next five years to reach 62 dollars per barrel in 2025. This is what IFP Énergies nouvelles (Ifpen) notes in its latest “dashboard” on the oil markets. “For 2021, the Bloomberg consensus median value for the price of Brent is $50 per barrel.

Economists interviewed by the US news agency predict a gradual increase in the price of Brent over the next five years to reach $62 per barrel in 2025,” said the French research institute in the fields of energy, transport and the environment.

In its analysis, the IFP Énergies nouvelles found that on a weekly average, Brent, on the London futures market, gained 2.6 dollars per barrel last week, an increase of 5.1%. WTI follows the same trend and gains over the week 2.1 dollars per barrel, an increase of 4.4%.

"The Brent price structure in backwardation or 'backwardation' is intensifying, a sign that the oil market is tightening and the number of net long positions is up 2.6% over the week", underlines the research institute French.
