The announcements of significant losses by Credit Suisse and Nomura worry investors who are still torn between hopes of economic recovery, particularly in the United States, and health fears in Europe.

In Paris, the CAC 40 index is almost stable (-0.04%) at 5,986.34 points around 08:20 GMT. In Frankfurt, the Dax took 0.09% but in London, the FTSE fell 0.3%. The euro zone's Euro Stoxx 50 index gained 0.04%, the FTS Euro first 300 lost 0.06% and the Stoxx 600 fell 0.07%.
Futures on US indices are currently moving down from 0.4% to 0.6% after the sharp increase observed on Friday.
The Dow Jones index gained 1.39% to 33,072.88 points. The S&P-500 gained 1.66% to 3,974.54 points and the Nasdaq Composite advanced by 1.24% to 13,138.73 points.
