This was in the presence of some exporters from GNI and GEPEX.
October 2020 was marked by a second wave of COVID-19 contamination in Europe, and several countries went into lockdown again. This has created, according to Koné Brahima Yves, a global economic uncertainty, favoring the decline in international cocoa prices. In this context, global demand in the cocoa sector has not been spared. Buyers (traders, industrialists and chocolatiers), lacking clarity about the future, have reduced their need for the supply of cocoa beans on the market.
In these circumstances, the Coffee-Cocoa Council granted, for the two combined seasons, an amount of 10,575,000,000 CFA francs to national and international exporters as support. It is therefore wrong to speak of 20,000,000 billion granted to international explorers to the detriment of producers.
Koné Brahima Yves pointed out that producers directly received more than 500 billion FCFA thanks to the Decent Income Differential (DRD).
