Banks and decentralized financial systems have maintained their vigorous contributions to the economy. Figures from the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Togo indicate an increase in loans in banks and microfinance in the 2 nd quarter.

Loans increased in banks and microfinance in Togo during the 2nd quarter of this year. The amount of new loans set up in the second quarter of 2021 by banks amounted to 217 billion CFA francs, up 59% compared to the level recorded in the same quarter of 2020. As for loans granted by institutions microfinance to economic agents, they grew by 38% to CFAF 47 billion over the same period. All these encouraging developments have enabled claims on the economy to increase, year-on-year, by 4% to 1.376 billion F.CFA as of June 30, 2021, i.e. 30% of Gross Domestic Product.
