On Monday, the dollar and the yen fall as Chinese restrictions are lifted. The city of Beijing announced on Sunday the lifting of many anti-Covid restrictions, after a month of containment fears for the 22 million inhabitants of the Chinese capital.

The U.S. dollar fell and the yen hit a new seven-year low against the euro. Around 09:00 GMT (11:00 in Paris), the Dollar Index, which compares the greenback to a basket of other currencies, gave up 0.27% to 101.88 points. Against the euro, the U.S. currency lost 0.25% to 1.0746 dollars.

The yen, meanwhile, fell 0.13% to 140.47 yen against the single European currency, after sinking to 140.62 yen, a level not seen since June 2015, while the Bank of Japan (BoJ) maintained the previous week its ultra-accommodating position.

The pound appreciated against the U.S. currency (+0.66% to 1.2571 dollars per pound) "in the wake of the general movement of the greenback," said Neil Wilson, analyst at Markets.com.
