A press release from the Ministry of Finance informs that thanks to the issues of Indexed Treasury Bonds that have been launched since August 16, 2022, the Congolese government has borrowed 150 billion Congolese francs (FC), or nearly 75 million US dollars (USD).

The Congolese government has borrowed 150 billion Congolese francs (FC). According to the press release, the coverage rate of the amount put up for auction represents 66.67%. These financial securities were awarded to two bidders and will be repaid with a maturity of two years and an interest rate of 10% per year.

Indeed, the government had expressed the desire to borrow 225 billion Congolese francs (FC), or 112.5 million US dollars (USD) on the local financial market. Thus, in October 2019, it launched Treasury bills with the aim of diversifying its sources of financing in order to meet its still high public spending and also started issuing indexed Treasury Bonds.
