On this occasion, the Moroccan central bank announced a decision, which is to raise the key rate by 50 basis points to 2%. This decision is aimed at preventing inflation expectations from getting out of line and ensuring the conditions for a rapid return to levels in line with the objective of price stability. According to data for the first eight months of the year, inflation continued to accelerate, reaching 8% in August after 7.7% in July, 6.3% on average in the second quarter and 4% in the first.
