This led the CISPE professional group to take its grievances to the European Union's antitrust regulators on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
In a statement, Francisco Mingorance, general secretary of CISPE said that “taking advantage of its dominance in productivity software, Microsoft is restricting the choices and inflate costs as European customers seek to move to the cloud, thus distorting the European digital economy.” Indeed, CISPE alleged that certain practices are causing irreparable harm to the European cloud computing ecosystem, in particular the new Microsoft contractual conditions imposed on 1 October.
In reality, for CISPE in its complaint to the European Commission, the company seems to be using its dominance in the field of productivity software to Direct European customers to its Azure cloud infrastructure, at the expense of its European rivals.
