The Gabon Guarantee Company (SGG), a subsidiary of the Gabonese Strategic Investment Fund (FGIS), launched its activities on November 14, 2022. It is a new structure put in place to facilitate the access of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) to bank financing. Its mission is to offer financial institutions, both banks and microfinance institutions (EMFs), a risk-sharing scheme in the form of portfolio guarantees and individual guarantees. The authorities intend to provide an effective response to the thorny problem of financing SMEs through this mechanism.
