The African Development Bank (AfDB) has appointed Heads of Country Offices for the Central African Republic, Ghana, Madagascar, Mali, Sierra Leone, Togo and Uganda, effective December 1, 2020. Among the personalities named include the Ivorian Mamady Souaré. He is designated to occupy the position of Head of Office of the Central African Republic.

Mamady Souaré joined the African Development Bank in 2004 as a Principal Transport Engineer. He currently holds the position of Director of the Regional Integration Operations Division within the AfDB's Development and Regional Integration Department.

Prior to his appointment to the position of Head of Country Office in the Central African Republic, he was Head of the Transport Division at the AfDB whose mission is the management of infrastructure projects of all regional member countries in Central Africa, South Africa. West, North, East and Southern Africa.

Mr. Mamady has a solid background and extensive operations experience, particularly in the public transport and regional integration sectors, in which he has worked for more than 28 years.

As a project manager, he was the national coordinator of road maintenance projects in Côte d'Ivoire before being appointed Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Transport (Urban Transport Agency). He later joined the World Bank where he led a wide range of initiatives in Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso.

Mamady Souaré holds an engineering degree from the National School of Engineers (Ensi) in Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire, and a postgraduate degree in transport economics from the National School of public works of the State (Entp) of Lyon, in France.
