According to ECB president Christine Lagarde, although the monetary authority was moving faster than expected, the terminal rate had not changed. The single currency therefore dropped 0.2% on Friday at $1,0205, returning some of the 0.5% lead from the previous session, but made good progress for a weekly rally of 1.21%. The dollar index rose slightly by 0.08% to 106.70 on Friday, after falling by 0.36% the day before. For its part, the Japanese currency, which is particularly sensitive to changes in American rates, was heading into its first winning week since the end of May. The Aussie achieved its best performance since the beginning of March, dropping 0.25% to $0.6919. Meanwhile, the pound sterling fell 0.14% to $1.19875 on Friday, reducing its gain for the week to 0.98%, the highest since the end of May.
