Find all the economic and financial information on our Orishas Direct application to download on Play StoreThe General Directorate of The Treasury and Public Accounting of Benin obtained on May 22, 2020 on the financial market of the West African Monetary Union (WAMU) 55 billion FCFA (82.500 million euros) at the end of its simultaneous issuance of bonds comparable to the Treasury (OAT) to 3 years, 7 years and 10 years.
This amount raised is intended to cover the financing needs of the State budget of Benin. The amount put up for auction by the issuer was CFAF 50 billion. At the end of the auction operation, the UMOA-Titres agency recorded a total amount of bids from investors of 87.065 billion FCFA, i.e. a coverage rate of 174.13%. All WAEMU countries took part in the tendering operation.
On the amount of the bids, the Beninese public treasury retained 55 billion FCFA and rejected the remaining 32.065 billion FCFA, i.e . an absorption rate of 63.17%.
The securities issued will be repaid in full on the first working day following the maturity date of 25 May 2023 for 3-year OAT, 25 May 2025 for 5-year OAT and 25 May 2027 for 7-year OAT.
As for the payment of interest, it will be made on the basis of a rate of 5.90% per year from the first year for 3-year OAT, 6% for 5-year OAT and 6.40% for 7-year OAT.
