At a meeting of the AELP Steering Committee, held on the sidelines of the 10th edition of the Building African Financial Markets (BAFM) seminar, the African Securities Exchange Association (ASEA) admitted the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) and the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) to the African Exchanges Linkage Project (AELP).

Two members are added to the seven exchanges in the African Exchanges Linkage Project (AELP). The admission of the two fellowships is a demonstration of the importance of expanding the integrated fellowship community through the AELP. As progress has been made on the interconnectivity of the initial seven exchanges in Phase One, the admission of these two exchanges is a major achievement for the expansion of the project.

The project was built around selected exchanges that underwent market readiness assessments conducted by ASEA. The original exchanges participating in Phase 1 of the AELP are the Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM), the Casablanca Stock Exchange (CSE), the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE), the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), and the Mauritius Stock Exchange (SEM). The project aims to stimulate pan-African investment flows through the creation of linked exchanges.
