Banks listed on the BRVM showed a certain resilience to the inflation that affected their various markets in the first 9 months of 2022. Net sales and margins increased over the period.

The banks of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) that are listed on the Regional Securities Exchange (BRVM) based in Abidjan have already declared cumulative net profits of 256 billion FCFA ($415.5 million) for activities of the first 9 months of 2022. We thus note an increase of 9%, compared with that of the same period in 2021. This performance is the result of an improvement in net banking income (GNP), which is the equivalent of turnover in the banking sector, which increased by 12% to 787.1 billion FCFA.

Based on these two indicators, it can be concluded that listed banks in the WAEMU are managing to overcome inflation, which globally reached 8.4% at the end of October 2022. However, this overall performance of the banks listed on the BRVM conceals some disparities: indeed, with a GDP increase of 27.1% over the period, Coris Bank experienced the best increase in business volume.
