It counts 439 cases of electoral corruption.
Following the observation of the coupled ballot, the REN-LAC reveals 439 cases of corruption, 314 of which were detected by direct observation and 125 cases are testimonies. According to the executive secretary of REN-LAC, Sagado Nacanabo, 26 observers and 13 members of the network have been deployed in the capitals of the 13 regions of Burkina Faso.
This electoral corruption and purchase of conscience noted by the REN-LAC, concerns several political parties, the most illustrative of which are the MPP, the CDP, the UPC, the NTD and the RPI. "Those parties that used bad practices the most during the pre-campaign and the campaign were the ones that had the most leads in the election," Nacanabo said. The methodology used consisted of the direct and indirect observation of the facts of corruption and fraud before and during these coupled elections.
"Electoral corruption and fraud therefore played a major role in the outcome of the elections," said Issouf Paré, head of investigations at REN-LAC. With regard to the practical organization of elections, REN-LAC deplored the violation of the electoral code, the lack of transparency in the recruitment of electoral officers and the questioning in places of the right to vote of certain citizens.
