The Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Côte d'Ivoire (AMCHAM CI) have created a formal framework for collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the WAEMU regional financial market among American investors, indicates a press release sent to the AIP.

The signing of this Memorandum, Tuesday, November 17, 2020 in Abidjan, aims to carry out joint activities to promote the WAEMU regional financial market among international investors, particularly American investors, to raise awareness among AMCHAM Côte d'Ivoire member companies on the opportunities offered by the BRVM and to carry out actions to development of the stock exchange to support the economies of WAEMU countries.

To do this, the BRVM already makes available to AMCHAM stock exchange data in digital form in order to feed its website and newsletters distributed to American investors.

Welcoming the signing of this memorandum, the Director General of the BRVM and the DC/BR, Edoh Kossi Amenounve, said that this agreement was part of "the development actions undertaken by the BRVM for several years in order to forge strategic partnerships with several organizations in order to promote the opportunities it has been able to offers both issuers and investors'.

The BRVM is therefore working to attract more American investors to its market and this partnership with AMCHAM will contribute effectively, he added.

For the new president of AMCHAM CI, Yohannes Mekbebe, the main challenge of his mandate is to mark the American presence in the Ivorian economic fabric.

It has therefore undertaken to establish a framework for collaboration with the BRVM following the identification of the needs expressed by American investors, particularly in terms of information on the BRVM market, which is one of the largest French-speaking stock exchanges in Africa, specifies the document.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Côte d'Ivoire (Amcham CI) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in January 2013 by a group of U.S. companies based in Côte d'Ivoire, with the support of the American Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC.
