Nialé Kaba, President of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank (AfDB), also Minister of Planning and Development, makes clarifications to avoid any misunderstanding on the communication relating to the handling of the complaint by whistleblowers against the President of the AfDB group.

In a press release in our possession, the Minister affirms that there is no institutional crisis within the Group and assures that there was no question of the resignation of its President.

“The Office that I chair would like to reassure the public that it has taken up the matter and that it is dealing with it with the greatest rigor and with all the seriousness it deserves. However, the Bureau informs the public that no decision has been made as falsely conveyed in certain publications. I must emphasize that there is no institutional crisis within the African Development Bank Group. Above all, in no case was the President of the Bank Group asked to resign. Everyone must allow the Bureau to do its work and let the investigation process of this dossier take its course. The opinion of all the governors will be sought for its successful outcome. », explains the President of the Board of Governors of the Bank.

Kaba Nialé recalls that on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, the office of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) held a meeting to examine the case arising from a complaint from the launchers of alert against the President of the AfDB, which was dealt with by the ethics committee of the Bank's Board of Directors and about which it received letters from certain shareholders expressing different points of view.

According to the Minister, following this meeting, several publications in the national and international press were brought to her attention, concerning the content of the deliberations of the said meeting.
