The Science, Technology and Innovation Fund, FONSTI, and the International Development Research Center, IDRC, of Canada, launched a call for projects, this Tuesday, March 30, 2021 in Abidjan, to raise global funding of 200 million FCFA.

The invitation is mainly addressed to promoters of projects on sustainable health (neglected tropical diseases, infectious diseases, serious non-communicable diseases), on the links between industry and universities and on the use of biodiversity and energies. renewable.

For Dr. Sangaré Yaya, Secretary General of FONSTI, "the choice of these themes responds to national needs in terms of health, nutrition, technology, industrialization, sanitation and maintenance of the living environment".

This action is part of phase 2 of the program entitled "Capacity building for the financing of national research projects in Côte d'Ivoire", at the initiative of the Granting Councils for Science. An organization of which FONSTI and the Strategic Support Program for Scientific Research in Côte d'Ivoire, PASRES, are members.

The objective is to encourage researchers, academics and the private sector to pool their efforts for the development of Côte d'Ivoire. And this, through transdisciplinarity, the synergy of practices and techniques from different specialties.

“Individual projects will not be accepted. Bidders must form multidisciplinary research teams made up of students, young researchers, senior researchers and private sector players. And must promote gender equality and inclusion throughout the project,” he stresses.

For this call for projects, the research budget for proposals is capped at 20 million per project, for a period of 18 months. Applications must be submitted to [email protected] by Sunday May 2, 2021.
