The National Assembly of Mauritania approved the initial draft finance law for 2023 on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. It was during a public session under the chairmanship of Cheikh Ould Baya.

The initial 2023 finance project aims to increase the level of national economic activity after the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is with the aim of achieving strong and equitable economic growth that takes into account good governance, social justice and sustainable development. The resources allocated to the state budget for the year 2023 total 454,883,00,102 (one hundred two billion eight hundred eighty four hundred and fifty-four) MRU. We thus note an increase of 3.03% compared to the amending finance law for the year 2022.

As for the public sector expenditure planned in the initial budget bill for the year 2023, it amounts to one hundred eleven billion four hundred and forty eight hundred forty eight (448 844 423 111) MRU. This is an increase of 3.03% compared to the amended budget law for the year 2022. The total subsidized investment budget for the year 2023 amounts to MRU 51.3 billion. It represents the first part of the 2023-2025 public investment program, which is a portfolio of investment projects and programs of the current government.
