Moody's Ratings changed the outlook of Rwanda from negative to stable while confirming its B2 grade, citing the reducing the risks associated with the conflict in the east of the Democratic Republic from Congo (DRC).

The improved outlook reflects the alleviation of concerns about a possible reduction in inflows of foreign exchange and public funding intended for Rwanda. A peace agreement between Rwanda and the DRC, negotiated by the United States with the support of partners international organizations, including Qatar, have helped ease tensions between two countries.

The Moody's rating agency raised Friday the outlook for Rwanda from “negative” to “stable”, citing the reducing the risks associated with the conflict with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), especially with regard to foreign currency flows.

Ongoing discussions between the DRC and the Rwanda, led under the aegis of the United States and supported by others international and regional partners, have contributed to the easing of tensions between the two countries. These efforts resulted in the signing of a peace agreement. in June.

“External financial assistance in favor of Rwanda has remained supported in recent months and will likely continue to strengthen its credit profile,” Moody's said in a statement.

According to the US State Department, the Rwanda and the DRC recently agreed on the main lines of an integration framework regional economic. The latter includes cooperation components in areas of energy, infrastructure, supply chains in minerals, national parks and public health.
