Togo is expected to save a total of nearly $26 million (0.5% of its GDP), thanks to the suspension of its debt service by the World Bank.

The moratorium, which covers the period from May 2020 to the end of the year, was granted by the Bretton Woods Institution, as part of its Debt Service Suspension Initiative (ISDS). A support measure, taken in response to the Covid-19 crisis (note that its sister institution , the IMF, has for its part, granted the country, 3 billion FCFA (about $ 5 million) of debt suspension, still in support measure).

Moreover, this moratorium by the World Bank, combined with the recent debt reprofiling carried out by Togo, should together reduce refinancing needs at the country's margin, according to Moody's. Refinancing needs that come mainly from its domestic debt ($630 million, or 11% of GDP), nearly two-thirds of which are owed to domestic creditors (including those of the WAEMU).
