According to data from the Debt Management Office and the World Bank's financial statements, Nigeria's total debt owed to the World Bank Group increased by $660 million during the first six months of 2022.

Nigeria's debt to the Washington-based bank was $12.38 as of December 31, 2021. But the World Bank's financial statements for fiscal year 2022 show that Nigeria owes the lender 13.04 billion dollars as of 30 June 2022. IDA's audited financial statements for the World Bank's 2021 fiscal year showed that Nigeria was ranked fifth on the list with an IDA debt outstanding of $11.7 billion as of June 30, 2021. This shows that Nigeria has accumulated around $1.3 billion in debt to IDA during a fiscal year, with the country taking Vietnam's fourth largest debtor position. This debt is different from the outstanding amount of the World Bank's $486 million loan for reconstruction and development.
