The African Union (UA) and the African Stock Exchange Association (ASEA) signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday, July 21, 2022 in Lusaka, Zambia. It was on the occasion of the 5th Conference of the AU Technical Committee on Economy, Monetary Affairs, Finance, Economic Planning and Integration.

This memorandum of understanding aims to facilitate collaboration between the two parties to better coordinate the development of capital markets on the continent. It should also allow for information sharing and a more strategic approach to the integration and competitiveness of the African financial sector. The partnership will be an important pillar in the mechanism for interconnecting African capital markets and should enable African stock exchanges to come closer to the public authorities of the continent in order to advocate more effectively in favour of the markets. It should be noted that since its creation in 1993, l& #39; ASEA has 25 stock exchanges.
