The book took advantage of a change in the British government on Monday, October 3, 2022. The pound currency rose for the fifth consecutive session against the dollar.

The British currency took advantage of the government's backtracking on one of the “mini-budget” measures that had caused it to plunge to an all-time low. At around 11:10am, the pound gained 0.21% to $1.1194, after jumping to $1.1281, a high since Thursday, September 22.

The pound plunged to 1.0350 dollars, an all-time low, on September 26. Against the dollar, the euro remained stable (-0.02% to $0.9800), but the yen fell by 0.24% to 145.10 yen, crossing the symbolic threshold of 145 yen and approaching its lowest point since 1998, reached on September 22 at 145.90 yen.

The Japanese currency had since recovered slightly, supported by government measures to boost the currency, which was falling against the dollar.
