In his speech to the nation on April 1, the Head of State Faure Gnassingbé announced the creation of a national solidarity and economic recovery fund of 400 billion FCFA.
"This national solidarity fund will be fed by the contribution of the government, mobilizations with international partners, the national and international private sector and all the good will," said the tenant of the Marina in his address to the nation.
In a statement made public yesterday Friday, the Togolese government through the Minister of Economy and Finance informs the public that a bank account has been opened for this purpose on which the goodwill can already start by sending their contributions. These contributions will be made either by cheque issued or by payment of cash.
"The Minister of Economy and Finance informs all those willing to make their contributions, that they may do so by check issued to the order of the Public Treasury by transfer or by payment of cash to the account opened for this purpose at CORIS BANK", says Minister Sani YAYA in the press release.
It should be noted that the Togolese government has already begun to help vulnerable groups with its "Universal Solidarity Income Program, Novissi". This program aims to support any Togolese who has lost their income due to the adoption of new response measures against Covid-19 in Togo.
