The African Development Bank (AfDB) launched the 2022 edition of the Africa Investment Forum on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, in Abidjan. An opportunity for participants to think about strengthening economic resilience.

The theme of the third edition of the African Investment Forum is “Building economic resilience through sustainable investments.” The opening ceremony was attended by several heads of state including those of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde and Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Representing the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Vice President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné indicated that it is “necessary to strengthen R& Eacute; economic resilience of our countries, especially to external shocks, and to ensure our economic and food sovereignty.”

“After the first two editions that identified a portfolio of transactions valued at 46.9 billion US dollars and 67.7 billion dollars respectively US, we hope to cross the $100 billion mark during this third edition,” he wished while hoping that “the numerous investment opportunities and transactions that will be negotiated during this Forum will contribute to the development of our continent”.

This forum aims to reduce intermediation costs and increase active and productive engagement between African governments and the private sector.
