Assets of the "Bongo clan" estimated at 152 million euros were seized by the courts in France as part of the "ill-gotten gains" case. This case opposes French justice to African leaders, in this case, the families and relatives of Presidents Omar Bongo of Gabon, Denis Sassou N'Guesso of Congo and Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea.

The “Ill-gotten gains” case concerns real estate and furniture and other valuables found in particular in Europe and whose funds that allowed their acquisition would be the product of embezzlement of public funds.
Thus, more than 152 million euros of assets of the “Bongo clan” were seized in France. The Central Office for the Repression of Major Financial Delinquency (OCRGDF) has already seized several assets presumed to be ill-gotten by Omar Bongo, who died in 2009, his family and their relatives representing nearly a third of the seizures made since 2011 by the French Judicial Police , or 500 million euros.
