Senegal closed March 2022 with a budget balance in deficit of 725.4 billion CFA francs.  Public financial management was characterized by an increase in budgetary resources associated with a satisfactory increase in expenditure.

The resources consist of 693 billion CFA francs in budget revenue and donations estimated at 17.7 billion CFA francs. The continued good performance of resources is attributable to budgetary revenues, which recorded an increase of 206.9 billion (+42.6%) mainly driven by tax revenues (+37.8%). As for non-tax revenues, they increased by 30.5 billion CFA francs thanks, in particular, to the earlier than expected recovery of transfer fees and the good performance of the domains' revenues.

At the end of March 2022, budget expenditure was executed to the tune of 1436.1 billion CFA francs against an amount of 1012.6 billion CFA francs a year earlier, an increase of 423.5 billion CFA francs (+41.8%). In addition, over one year, the wage bill and interest charges on the debt are estimated at 230.7 billion and 123.1 billion respectively, i.e. increases of 10.4% and 14.2% respectively.
