Development Agency (BOAD) sent a note to investors. In his
document, she specified her cash management strategy.
The BOAD press release comes as
members of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA)
rely heavily on the regional market to finance themselves. Its strategy of
cash management consists of investing in public bonds issued
by member countries. In its note, the bank explained how this approach
differs from the budgetary support it gives to these states.
BOAD indicated in the same document that “in order to
to optimize cash management and reduce the cost of carrying, BOAD
invests part of its available liquidity on the regional market,
particularly in bonds issued by member countries, considered as
among the safest financial instruments in the UEMOA zone.”
The bank grants countries members receive budgetary support in the form of loans and grants. Elle specifies, however, that its sovereign bond purchases fall under “exclusively from its asset management strategy.”
