The West African Development Bank (BOAD), an institution dedicated to financing development projects in the eight waemu countries, has approved the disbursement of CFAF 652.8 billion in 2020.

In Togo, the regional institution has financed several projects in 2020, including the project to set up and operate a cement plant by CIMCO SA, to the tune of 20 billion FCFA. An envelope of 25 billion will also have been granted to clear Togo's liabilities related to the import of electrical energy into Nigeria.

It also supported the country in the implementation of the Kékéli Efficient Power power plant. Not only has it, with the help of Oragroup, arranged the financing of this device at more than 65 billion FCFA but it should be noted that a year earlier (2019), it had approved a partial financing of 25 billion FCFA for its construction.

Very involved in the energy transition, BOAD has also injected 7 billion FCFA in the construction of a photovoltaic solar power plant with a power of 30 MWC in Blitta (about 267 km from Lomé on the National Road No. 1).

Objective: to enable Togo to make a leap towards its energy independence and support its orientation towards clean energy sources.
