Export opportunities in Ivory Coast. To better understand them, the Moroccan Association of Exporters (Asmex), in partnership with Harvard Consulting, organized a webinar in the “Doing business” series on December 24.
In 2019, Côte d'Ivoire was Morocco's 26th export market (0.6% of the country's exports) and Morocco's 79th import market. The Kingdom's exports to Côte d'Ivoire cover several areas of activity. Exports of fertilizers amount to 45 million dollars and electrical equipment to 28 million dollars. The country's imports from Côte d'Ivoire concern wood for 4.9 million dollars and cocoa for 4.3 million dollars.
But the opportunities for Moroccan exporters are numerous and in different sectors. "Since 2017, the medical device market in Côte d'Ivoire has experienced strong growth of almost 100% in terms of imports," explains Moroccan exporters Philippe Cordier, founder of Ceemo, which specializes in consulting and operational services in West Africa. According to him, the cosmetics sector is also buoyant and represents a viable opportunity for the Moroccan exportable offer. “The Ivorian woman uses an average of 9 hair products, 7 make-up products and 5 other skin care products. Foreign brands are preferred by 73% of Ivorians against 27% for local brands”.
