Revolved by bangui's adoption of a cryptocurrency law, the governor of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) Abbas Mahamat Tolli wrote to the Central African Minister of Finance to put him under pressure. In this letter, he asks to convene the sessions of the extraordinary board of directors of the BEAC and the ministerial committee of the Central African Monetary Union (Umac) to examine the "implications" of the decision to adopt bitcoin as a legal tender.

The Central African Republic had adopted and promulgated, on April 22, a law on cryptocurrency. On 29 April, the Governor of the BEAC wrote to Hervé Ndoba, the Central African Minister of Finance and Budget, asking him to convene, for 5 and 6 May, the sessions of the Extraordinary Board of Directors of the BEAC and the Ministerial Committee of the Central African Monetary Union (Umac). The objective is to examine the "implications" of Bangui's decision to adopt bitcoin as a legal tender.
