A high-level meeting was held on Thursday 27th November 2025 in Rabat. Chaired by the Head of the Moroccan Government, this meeting brought together representatives of the Financial Action Task Force of Middle East and North Africa (GAFIMOAN), ministers and directors of the national institutions concerned.

Morocco has made significant advances in matters relating to the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT). The country, under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, established the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism (LBC/FT) as a national and strategic priority, affirmed in Rabat the Head of government, Aziz Akhannouch. This visit marks the launch official of the 3rd cycle of mutual evaluation of the national control system against money laundering and terrorist financing (AML/CFT), and which will last until May 2028, when the final report of the Kingdom of Morocco will be discussed and adopted.

The Head of Government announced that Morocco has strongly committed to the strengthening of international cooperation, to through the ratification of several major conventions, in particular the Council of Europe Convention on money laundering, screening, seizure and confiscation of the proceeds of crime and the financing of terrorism (Warsaw Convention), the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption and the Second Protocol additional to the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, as well as the signing of the new United Nations treaty to combat cybercrime.

As a reminder, the GAFIMOAN delegation consisted of of the current president of the group, of the vice-president, of the executive secretary as well as officials responsible for the mutual evaluation of the arrangements nationals of member countries.
